Speakers will include:
Dr Alan Thomas
Alan taught developmental psychology at the Charles Darwin University in NT until 1997. He is now based at London University in the Institute of Education. He has a particular interest in informal and conversational learning and a great respect for the ability of each home educating family to find the right method of education for their own children. Alan is the author of Educating Children at Home
Dr John Peacock
Johns PhD thesis The How and Why of Home Education is considered the definitive study of Australian home education. John is a long term home educator himself with a particular interest in natural learning.
Glenda Jackson
Glenda will be familiar to many home educators attending. She is completing her PhD, The Home Educated: When and Why They Enter or Leave Formal Education. Glenda has home educated her own four children through primary school and 3 part-time through secondary school. She is also a senior secondary teacher specialising in Legal Studies.
Terry Harding
Terry is the principal of the Australian Christian Academy which facilitates formal home education and provides Distance Education support services to families. Terry has done extensive research on home education.
