Well-respected home education researchers, Alan Thomas and Harriet Pattison, have embarked on home education literacy research in more depth following on from their latest book, How Children Learn At Home. In the first instance they are looking at learning to read and may follow up with studying learning to write. They are asking home educators to answer a short online initial questionnare at their website www.howchildrenlearnathome.co.uk The site also serves as an introduction to their work on natural learning (referred to in England as ‘informal learning’ and in America as ‘unschooling’). Reviews of some of Alan Thomas’ books (the last co-authored with Harriet Pattison) can be found in the resources section . We also have an article by Alan on natural learning
Alan and Harriet’s work is important to the ongoing understanding on home education so please spare five minutes to take part in their latest endeavours.
