The five hour day program is designed for parents who want a full emersion experience, where children are learning basic literacy and numeracy in a French language context. The day will include greetings and introductions, number and counting games, themed vocabulary games and flash cards, songs, worksheets and craft activities, and an extensive drama program. The methods are interactive and creative with a focus on kinaesthetic learning. Speaking and listening is emphasised more than reading and writing in our program, although there is an element of the latter.

The drama program is something I am very excited about as my background is in drama! This program is structured around preparing short plays to present to parents, and uses drama activities to develop confidence in speaking, as well as using muscle memory to help retain new vocabulary. Children will enjoy working towards their performances and parents will enjoy seeing what children have learned! The program is structured and progressive, so the longer they continue, the more French they will learn. This program also includes singing and games as well as some worksheets to support learning.

The range in this group will probably be 4-8, and depending on each child, activities will be adapted to a suitably challenging level. I find that homeschool children are usually very comfortable in multi-level/age groups, and work well together.

There is also a program proposed for families in the western suburbs, which will be 3hours fortnightly on a Friday, and the cost of this program will be $200 one child, or $300 family. Do let me know if you would like more information about this class.

A bit about me!

I originally come from New Zealand, but have lived in both France and Francophone West Africa. I studied theatre in NZ and Drama Education in the UK and have experience teaching primary, secondary and pre-school aged children. I fell in love with France and the French language when I was first taught French by an inspiring teacher and have enjoyed speaking French ever since, especially during my time living in France and in Burkina Faso, West Africa. I am passionate about creative education, and about children being given the chance to learn in a fun and happy atmosphere where they feel encouraged to enjoy the learning adventure!

Our methodology

LCF Clubs have been teaching languages to primary age children since 1985. The Club’s Methodology is based on informal, fun activities, such as:

• crafts

• music and songs

• role-play

• drama

• board games and card games

• plenty of popular, lively games

This interactive and communicative approach is supported by professionally designed materials including flashcards, board games, CDs, songbooks and activity sheets. The Clubs’ method makes learning fun and stress free. While children play games, sing songs, act out role plays and interact with each other, they absorb the new language without consciously thinking about it. Naturally this all takes place within a carefully structured progressive sequence which enhances learning.
