Term 3 is 10 weeks commencing July 13, and concluding September 18. There are no public holidays affecting Mondays during this term.
“Class would be divided into 2 sessions. Session 1 is the Core French part. Starting at 10.30 and concluding at 1.25pm. This would include primary school level of Written and oral work, reading, recognising words and sentences in french, developing confidence in speaking, learning new french songs, a correspondance with a primary school class in France, and some computer work. It would still be play based – that is less formal and more interactive, but of coarse aimed at their age level. Even for an adult, I really like this method of learning. It seems less daunting and more “fun”. I believe if they are having fun, they will genuinely want to come back each week and be eager to learn this fabulous language. They will develop a love for its culture and an ease at learning it, that only a child has. (I would assess each childs level of French ability then finalise the work & cater it individually to each child).
“Then, session 2 would be more “FUN”. We would alternate between 2 themes. One week cooking, one week Art ‘n’ Craft. So we would spend 5 weeks on both, but on alternating weeks. This session would be from 1.35 – 3.00. Foods the children would make would have a french flavour, des crepes, les oreilletes, une buche, des madeleines, etc… They would keep the recipes each week to take home. And as not all children can read, the recipe would be a sequence of words and pictures so that it is easy for a child to follow. The craft
and art would be based on the interests of the class, as filled out on the enrolment form per child.
