Home Education Information Days
HEN is conducting a series of information days over the next couple of months. Each day will consist of a home ed picnic for both existing home educators and enquiring families. Whether you are a veteran or a newcomer, these days will have something for you so come along and help us distribute information and support each other. It is not necessary to be a member of HEN to attend – these days are to provide home-ed information to anyone seeking it.
All welcome.

Hello
I am not a member of HEN as yet. I am starting home schooling for my 6 1/2 yr old son from tomorrow (05/10/09). I was interested in attending one of these sessions. Should I be a member to be able to participate in the Info Day?
Thanks.
Hi Lakshmi,
By all means come along. It is not at all necessary to be a member of HEN to attend. These days are an opportunity for anyone enquiring into home education to come along and collect some information, meet some home educators and ask lots of questions as well as for existing home educators to network with each other.
Regards
Sue
I am very interested to attend one of these open days. I have tried to email Helen using the link but it is rejected saying ‘no such link’. Is anyone able to help me find out more about attending please? I think the Coburg venue is closest to me.
Regards,
Annabel
Hi I may attend the Bendigo Info Day. Where at Lake Weerona will you be located?
Hi Kathleen,
Yes, you are more than welcome to come. Lake Weerona is on the left side of the main road as you head North out of Bendigo along the Midland Highway. It is very visible from the road and we will be somewhere near the BBQ rotunda which is in front of the carpark. Look for the Home Education Network banner or signs.
I look forward to seeing you there, Sue
Our family is located in Warragul. Is there an established contingent of home education families in our region? If so, how may we find out more about the local network.
Note: My daughter is only 2 but I want to be well prepared for when it is time to register her for home schooling.
Hi Simon,
Yes there is a group in Warragul who do picnics, excursions and activities. Contact Catherine Durant 56268252. I’m sure they’ll make you welcome.
You may also find some of our articles for parents of young children helpful – e.g. Beginning Home Education and Preschool Pressure.
Issue 109 of Otherways focussed on preschoolers so you may find that of interest also.
All the best with your home ed journey.
Sue
We are located close to Yarrawonga on the Murray River… Is there any established groups close to here and any plans for information sessions around this area?
Hi, I’m planning to go overseas & thought of starting home-ed there for my 2 kids – 8 & 5 yo. Is there a contact person in Malaysia? I found International School in Malaysia – http://www.aism.edu.my.
How does the home-ed works? Is there upcoming Info Day somewhere in the South East suburb, Dandenong etc.?
Hi Angela,
Unfortuantely we don’t have an information day planned near Yarrawonga but we do have a group in Albury that you may like to connect with. Contact rs9@tpg.com.au” rel=”nofollow”>Ruth rs9@tpg.com.au or Catherine daf@exemail.com.au
I will also send you some information by email.
Regards
Sue
Hi Johan,
Yes you can home educate in Malaysia. I don’t know of a home education group there but you may find one. It is not necessary to a member of a group to home educate although support is helpful. We are very happy to answer any questions you have and give you whatever support we can from here.
I will email you some information.
Regards
Sue
Hi, our family is located in Berwick, Victoria and I was wondering if there were any Information days run closer to us than Point Cook? Also is there anyone we could contact in our area that is doing Home Schooling as we are considering taking our children out of school next year but would like to make sure we are fully prepared of what we will need before we make our decision. Your help would be greatly appreciated. Kerrie
Hi Kerrie,
We have only the information days listed. I’ve emailed you some information but feel free to phone our information line 9517 7107 or email me at editor@home-ed.vic.edu.au. Regards, Sue
